Boeing Board to Add Nikki Haley, Who Helped Fight Union Drive
Haley, 47, who as South Carolina governor fiercely opposed unionization drives at a Boeing factory, has been nominated as a director ahead of the aerospace giant’s annual meeting April 29. “Boeing will benefit greatly from her broad perspectives and combined diplomatic, government and business experience to help achieve our aspiration to be the best in aerospace and a global industrial champion,” Chief Executive Officer Dennis Muilenburg said in a statement. If elected, Haley would join another high-profile former ambassador: Caroline Kennedy, the former U.S. envoy to Japan under former President Barack Obama.

Trump's ex-fixer Cohen to offer new Russia details to Congress: source
As Special Counsel Robert Mueller appears to near the end of his probe into whether Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election in collusion with Trump's campaign, Cohen's assertion that Trump was inquiring about the skyscraper project as late as June 2016, if true, would show Trump remained personally engaged in the venture well into his candidacy. Cohen was set to offer lawmakers new information about Trump's private affairs over three consecutive days of in-depth discussion with congressional committees that began on Tuesday with a closed hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The focus of the session, which lasted for roughly 9 hours, was mainly on what Cohen knows about Trump's dealings with Russia, as well as about Cohen's previous lies, two congressional sources said.

Warren, DNC Use Cohen Testimony in Fundraising Pleas
The Democratic National Committee and Senator Elizabeth Warren both used Michael Cohen's highly anticipated congressional testimony in fundraising pleas addressed to supporters Wednesday.“Under oath and in an open session of Congress, one of Donald Trump’s most trusted advisors implicated him in criminal activity while he’s been in the White House,” read an email from Warren asking for donations. “Our criminal justice system is hanging on and doing its job – the truth is coming out – despite unprecedented, relentless, and potentially illegal pressure from Donald Trump and his associates in and out of government. But here’s the biggest threat right now: Donald Trump, or the next President, using the pardon power to cover up and permanently excuse this wrongdoing.”The Democratic National Committee also sent out a fundraising text that read, “Michael Cohen’s testimony makes this clear: Trump is a threat to our country. It’s up to us to make him a one-term president.”Cohen has been cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation since November. He appeared before the House Oversight and Reform Committee Wednesday to testify against Trump, comparing the president to a mobster and calling him a "racist" and "conman." While he refused to accuse Trump of collusion with Russia, he told the committee that the president's "desire to win would have him work with anyone."Cohen is scheduled to begin a three-year prison term soon after he was convicted of financial crimes, campaign-finance violations, and lying to Congress late last year.

Trump touts rapport with North Korea's Kim at summit, 'satisfied' with talks
The U.S. president appeared upbeat with Kim even as on the other side of the world in Washington his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen called Trump a "conman" who knew in advance about the release of stolen emails aimed at hurting his Democratic rival in the 2016 election campaign. "Great meetings" and a "Very good dialogue," Trump said on Twitter after dinner with Kim at Hanoi's French-colonial-era Metropole hotel while the White House said the two planned to sign a "joint agreement" after further talks on Thursday. Facing increasing political and legal pressure at home over investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election, Trump has devoted significant time and effort to trying to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons in exchange for promises of peace and development, a foreign policy goal that has confounded multiple predecessors.

‘Sleeping With the Enemy’ Remake to Bring the Glory Days of Trashy ’90s Thrillers Into the 21st Century
Only ’90s kids will get this: in 1991, Julia Roberts starred in the trashy thriller Sleeping With the Enemy. It was kind of stupid, but in that highly watchable way. And it also ended up being a big hit. Now, Fox Searchlight has decided to develop a Sleeping With the Enemy remake, which will presumably update the film’s ’90s trappings for the 21st century. For instance: characters will probably have cell phones this time. And no one will be wearing acid wash jeans.
Sleeping With the Enemy
Deadline broke the news about the Sleeping With the Enemy remake, but add that there are no real details at the moment. The only thing we know for sure is that Nia DaCosta has been hired to write and direct, and that it’s being billed as a “reimagining.” DaCosta is a filmmaker on the rise – she’s also directing the upcoming Candyman remake for producer Jordan Peele.
I have a soft spot for trashy ’90s thrillers – movies like The Hand the Rocks the Cradle, Pacific Heights and Unlawful Entry. Sleeping With the Enemy definitely fits in with those films, telling the story of Laura Burney, played by Julia Roberts. On the outside, it looks like Laura has it all. She lives in a gorgeous house with her successful, charming-seeming husband Martin (Patrick Bergin).
But Martin’s charm is all an act, and he’s actually a controlling, abusive monster who makes Laura’s life hell. When Martin’s abuse starts to become even more violent than usual, Laura fakes her own death to get away from him. She changes her name to Sara, and relocates to Iowa. There, she strikes up a relationship with a teacher (Kevin Anderson). But of course, Martin soon finds out Laura is still alive, and comes after her like a slasher in a horror movie.
Was Sleeping With the Enemy any good? Not really! But it provided enough entertainment to rake in $175 million at the box office. It also once held the record for highest domestic opening for a female-centric film, because audiences can’t get enough Julia Roberts. Or at least, they couldn’t in the ’90s.
I suppose a remake of this story has potential, especially in the #MeToo era. And if Hollywood wants to start remaking more sordid thrillers from the 1990s, I’m all for it. It’s the type of film we don’t see very often anymore, except in cases of super-cheap thrillers that fade from theaters quickly.

‘Puss in Boots 2’ to Be Directed By ‘Spider-Verse’ Co-Director Bob Persichetti
Bob Persichetti is having a good week. It began by winning an Oscar on Sunday night for co-directing Sony’s spectacular Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and now word has arrived that he’s already found his next directing gig. Persichetti will direct Puss in Boots 2 for DreamWorks Animation, a long-brewing sequel to the 2011 animated hit that was a spin-off of the Shrek movies.
Deadline brings word about the director’s newest gig as he picks up this franchise and wipes off the dust that’s been gathering for years. This iteration of Puss in Boots first appeared in 2004’s Shrek 2, before going on to appear in every subsequent Shrek sequel and proving popular enough to not only earn his own spin-off prequel movie, but to launch an animated television show on Netflix. The first Puss in Boots movie earned almost $555 million worldwide back in 2011, and talk of a sequel has been fairly steady ever since – now it seems like one will finally get underway.
This won’t be Persichetti’s first time playing in this particular litter box…er, sandbox. No hard feelings with that little joke, either: the first Puss in Boots movie is surprisingly fun, and Persichetti served as the Head of Story and voiced the character of “Ohhh Cat” in it.
We don’t have official confirmation yet that Antonio Banderas will be returning to reprise his title role as the swashbuckling feline, but a previous report indicated that Illumination Entertainment’s Chris Meledandri, who is watching over this sequel, wants them to return. That may mean we could also hear more from Banderas’s Desperado co-star Salma Hayek as Kitty Softpaws and Zach Galifianakis as Humpty Dumpty.
Persichetti made his directorial debut on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but he’s a longtime animation veteran with credits on Hercules, Tarzan, Mulan, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and many more. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the underseen 2015 movie The Little Prince. Latifa Ouaou, who produced the first Puss in Boots, is overseeing this sequel and will serve as a bridge between DreamWorks Animation and Illumination Entertainment.
No release date is in place yet for Puss in Boots 2, but if you’re looking for more from Persichetti, we have plenty of pieces you can check out. Earlier today we published an interview with him, and we have a couple more pieces from Spider-Verse‘s time on the promotional circuit that give insight into how Persichetti and his fellow filmmakers brought that incredible movie to life.
